Are Women Ignored As Technology Consumers?

It doesn't take a genius to see how the videogame industry has generally done a poor job of properly marketing to women or even getting them involved in the industry. But outside of the videogame industry, however, are women still ignored as technology consumers. Do people really believe only men by tech?

Why is the industry doing such a poor job in reaching the female segment of the market? It might be as Warren Farrell said, “The only men who aren't in fear of women's reactions are usually men who aren't born or who are dead.” While most firms – manufacturers and retailers – may not fear women, only a few have really tried tapping into this half of the buying public.BestBuy has a separate team that focuses on reaching the female technology/CE consumer. Many of the camera manufacturers have introduced female-friendly devices.

Women in the Game Industry


The male dominated video game business is beginning to crack with more women entering the field. At Cogswell College in California we are seeing more women enroll.
