This the first review from our newest staff member, Venus Royce. Please welcome her to our team, and take a look at her first review for killerbetties. SHAUN THE SHEEP Not baaad at all. Shaun is based on the stop motion animated series Wallace and Gromit by Aardman Animation. I do remember Wallace and Gromit but my 7 year-old quickly put me up to speed letting me know that Shaun has his very own cartoon show. The series are not as well known in the US and the game could go either way and become a sleeper hit. The premise is that the Farmer went to town and forgot to close the gate. Shaun must rescue the flock that is lost all through the farm. Navigating the farm through the map gets old very quickly but the mini games are little gems that will range from cute, fun and imaginative to the exhausting to repetitive and you will find yourself blowing (huh?) onto the controller. There are side tasks Shaun has to complete to get additional help by unlocking features by taking chicks back to the mother hen. You will interact with Bitzer the dog, Shirley and Timmy the sheep as well as with the Naughty Pigs. A straight forward storyline that I found it not to be very long which works great if you’re a child with a short attention span. Extremely cute and crisp graphics, I was impressed with the animation quality and how true it is to the stop-motion style and the TV series. The game is meant to be played with the stylus but you could use the d-pad with less than stellar results. The sound effects are great but the music is repetitive. If you’ve seen the show, you know exactly what I mean. The integration of the mini-games and the navigation through the map is consistent with the story but it can put a damper on the fun you could be having doing something else because you have to backtrack if you don’t follow the right sequencing while playing the game. Very fun while you’re doing it but when you’re done with the game, you’re truly done. The mini-games are styled in pac-man, space invaders, puzzles and old classics like whack the mole. Shaun the Sheep is geared toward the younger crowd, however, it is easy to forget because it is so engaging. Fans of the show will certainly enjoy it. It fulfills the task of entertaining with good, squeaky-clean fun… at least for a couple hours. login or register to post comments
