If this is true, maybe it's a good thing my system broke when it did, because though it sucked to have my 360 get the Red Ring of Death right when Bioshock and some other big titles was coming out, I'd had to have had it break a week or two later and facing this reported six week spanning repair time. To be an Xbox 360 owner and not get to play Halo 3 - blasphemy!

Kotaku sources the information to an insider claiming that both valid and invalid machines are being returned. As a result of the increased warranty, Xbox 360 repairs can now take as long according to the unnamed source.

One commenter confirmed the six week repair turnaround while adding that Microsoft was kind enough to send along a free game due to the excessive delay.
