Women Online Gamers Outnumber Men In US

Apparently, if you could snoop in on the computers of all the individuals playing online games, you would run across more women than men, says this survey that may surprise some people with its results, and reinforce the opinions others have already had regarding the matter. With casual games being such a hit with women gamers, is it really a surprise that online gamers are mostly women, considering that is where most casual games reside.

Women online gamers in the US outnumber men, according to Active Gamer Benchmark Study, indicating that online gaming is increasingly becoming a social activity for people. The research found that among the roughly 117 million Gamers in the U.S. in 2006, more than half (56%) play games online, and that 64% of all online gamers are women.

The research also revealed that although teenagers continue to be majority of gamers, women are fast gaining ground and now make up nearly two- thirds of all online gamers. However, men outnumber women in the overall video gaming territory by more than two-to-one.
