Submitted by thankeeka on November 20, 2006 - 2:10pm. Exclusive Previews

RVL_hardware_ss11.jpgAfter being less than thrilled with Nintendo's past Nintendo 64 and Nintendo Gamecube, I had sworn off ever owning another Nintendo system again. Even heading into this year's E3, I was still pretty sure I wasn't going to own the Wii. Of course, then came the Nintendo press conference and actually being taken on a tour of the Wii both, and suddenly I found myself once again flocking to my childhood love of Nintendo. So after one day of non-stop Wii playing, is the system everything one would hope for?

'Tony Hawk's Project 8' Preview (Xbox 360)

Submitted by thankeeka on October 23, 2006 - 12:24pm. Exclusive Game Preview

HoldI've always admired skaters. My one attempt at skateboarding ended up with me quickly speeding down a slope, unable to figure out how to stop, and me bailing into the grass so I didn't kill myself. Thankfully, Tony Hawk decided to make games, and helped the unskilled like me live out their boarding dreams. I'll never be able to pull off the 300 that Tony did, which still ranks as one of the coolest moments ever for me, but the game helps me come close.

'Phantasy Star Universe' Multiplayer Preview (Xbox 360)

Submitted by thankeeka on October 15, 2006 - 11:54am. Exclusive Game Preview

BroadswordGiven the fact I've never had a gaming PC (and still don't to this day sadly), consoles have been my only gaming addiction, and Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast was my first ever taste of a MMORPG…and I was addicted. I remember creating my character Scythe like a Sephiroth clone, and reveling in the day when I actually got a scythe to swing around. With the next installment about to hit the Xbox 360, it looks as if that addiction is about to come back full force.

'Rule of Rose' Preview (PS2)

Submitted by fulldamage on September 13, 2006 - 12:52am. Game Preview

LipstickAtlus is really something special in the industry – a publisher that's not afraid to do things a little differently. Where powerhouses like EA struggle to achieve market dominance by churning out sequel after sequel to surround you with their product, Atlus isn't afraid to strike out in a different direction, exploring those dark little niches for some truly unique fare, like the Playstation's gothic, philosophical Shin Megami Tensei titles, or hospital-puzzler Trauma Center for the DS. Their latest, Rule of Rose (from Punchline Studios), is hitting stores near you right now. As expected, it's quirky, it's captivating, and more than a little eerie.

Submitted by thankeeka on September 5, 2006 - 9:25am. Game Preview

StormtroopersA long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…someone got the idea to combine LEGOs with Star Wars, and though it was based on the lackluster prequel trilogy, it was still a cute and fun filled adventure with little LEGO Star Wars characters running about in LEGO made worlds ripped straight from the movies. With the first game being such a success, it was only inevitable that a sequel would be created, this time tackling the original Star Wars trilogy.

'Saint's Row' Preview (Xbox 360)

Submitted by thankeeka on August 23, 2006 - 10:33am. Game Preview

BoomIt's easy to label something as a Grand Theft Auto clone, and there is usually only one requirement for it – the game tries to be GTA but it sucks. A fair number have come out in recent years, but none have managed to touch the success of that particular franchise. With Saint's Row, the formula is being tested again, but there is something about the game that just might put it on a level field with the heralded GTA series.
