Older Women Rule The Casual Game Market

When you look at the reasons, it isn't very strange at all that older women rule the market when it comes casual games. Children to raise, careers to keep them busy, and hectic busy lives that don't allow for the hours upon hours to be spent playing the latest games. But casual games, something that can be played in a rather quick few minutes whenever some time is available, suits that busy life just fine.

Contrary to popular belief, teenage boys are not the masters of the entire video game universe.

"Middle-aged" women rule the $458 million U.S. online casual game market that features quick games that can be picked up and played for a few minutes or a few hours at a sitting.

According to separate studies from casual game publishers RealNetworks Inc. (RNWK.O) and PopCap Games, 70 percent of casual gamers are females over the age of 40, most of whom use gaming as a way to ease stress.
