If your lifeline is Xbox Live and the multiplayer of videogame is your social gathering and way of life, then you better find something else to do on October 17th. For possibly up to 24 hours Xbox Live will be down so Microsoft can add some stuff to it.

n Tuesday October 17th at midnight Pacific Time both Xbox Live and Xbox.com will be coming down for scheduled maintenance. The period both services will be down could be up to a 24 hours.

According to a QA on Xbox.com the reason for the downtime is, "Because we're adding some cool stuff. And we have to take the service and website offline in order to do it. We're not doing it to make you mad … really."
