In Soviet Russia, Videogames Kills You

Just yesterday I was declining a clan request in Tabula Rasa, but it was more because I didn't really care to join one at this time, and I certainly wasn't going to join one on a lark and not knowing anything about them. A good clan should be like a car...you kick the tires before you buy. A good clan also apparently doesn't just leave their fights to the actual game but instead go out into the real world and kill each other. Yeah...in a sad story today came word that in Russia two game clans - both from Lineage II it seems - actually met in real-life after a fierce clan battle, and it ultimately led to the death of one of the gamers.

From the article:

An apparent clan rivalry in Lineage II sparked a street fight which left a Russian man dead.

Russia Today reports that “Albert,” 33, was beaten to death in the city of Ufa. From the story:

It all started when two clans - the Coo-clocks, made up of mostly students, and the so-called Platanium with more experienced gamers of over thirty - started fighting to wipe out each other on screen…

Albert used to spend hours in font of his computer. On the web he had his own clan and a dozen of warriors. Just days before the New Year in a virtual battle his clan killed a member of the hostile Coo-clocks.

Days later the enemies agreed to meet literally face to face in the real world.
