I'm not sure if I should be insulted: being a laid back feminist, I'm pretty easy going about things, but I received an email about how I should enter to compete for... wait for it...
Miss Video Game.
The organizers are looking for the following things in a girl gamer:
1. You must have a personality.
2. You must be a girl.
3. You don't mind video games.
4. You must love the beach.
You see the problem here. First off, why isn't being a girl the first thing on the list? Also, to be Miss Video Game, you need to 'not mind video games.' That's like saying, "To win the Academy Award, you need to have gone to the movies."
I don't know about you, but personally, I think if any person, male or female, will be representing the Video Gaming public, he or she needs to know more than just that Mario is the one with the red hat. This person must know the God Code and name the games he or she has used it in. This person must know how to get to the Warp Zone. This person must have launched a warthog at least 3 times. They need to sing the Metal Gear "Tree Frog" song. In other words, they don't just "not mind video games," they must PLAY video games.
So ladies, if you PLAY video games, and know you can pwn the wannabes who think being a gamer means playing with a virtual pet, REPRESENT! Check out http://www.missvideogame.com/

"not mind video games." You
"not mind video games."
You would kind of think that this would be the most important requirement. I know I'm not attemping this.
