'Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers' Preview (Xbox)

The tactical military shooter returns once again with bad cameras and odd controls to tarnish an otherwise pretty solid demo.

I never got to play the original Full Spectrum Warrior. I remember getting to play the demo though, and thinking how there was so much that was extremely well done, but yet how it could've been made better through improvements. For one thing, the controls took a little time to get used to. Full Spectrum Warrior plays like a RTS, but instead of looking at the action from above you are actually on the ground looking with your unit. The original game was built as a training game for the army, but yet that doesn't apply all that well when it comes to fun for videogame players. So, the Full Spectrum Warrior developers decided to focus on fun first this time around, but yet keep that feel of the first game.

I'll get the biggest change out of the way to start it all off. Many people complained that the first Full Spectrum Warrior experience was marred because you couldn't actually do any of the shooting. In the first game, combat worked by you taking one team and placing suppressing fire on a fixed location, having your other team flank that now suppressed enemy, and then letting that team takedown the enemy. Now, some people were perfectly fine with that mechanic and that they only controlled the squad and never fired a single weapon, but others wanted to be able to squeeze off a round or two into some enemy's head. The developers have addressed those players and now you can actually shoot at the enemy
