First Impressions from the Nintendo Press Conference

Submitted by gamermom on May 9, 2006 - 2:10pm. Game News

Wii lifestyleSatoru Iwata spoke eloquently on Nintendo's desire to embrace a more expansive audience with the new DS Lite and Wii systems. The entire presentation features screenshots and video footage, with a strong dose of happy players really getting into their Nintendo systems.

Imagine bongo players grooving with their Wiimote.
- an otherwise quiet fellow turns ninja with a Wiimote and nunchaku.
- a cadre of young women play tennis and baseball (with lots of giggling)
- a middle aged couple practices their golf swing

Two striking highlights for you right off:

Red Steel is the most interesting and innovative First Person Shooter I've ever seen. Evoking the feel of a Luc Besson movie, or maybe John Woo, there were a few moments where the Wii felt very Woo and I have expectations to see some slow motion dives.

Wii Sports is going to be a ton of fun and a whole new level of party gaming. It features baseball, tennis and golf and may inspire you to redecorate your family room to make room for it!

More later, but for now, suffice it to say I'm already planning to get the Wii, Zelda and Wii Sports this fall!

Red steel is shaping up very nicely and Zelda is the must have game for the Wii definetly

I have to agree with

I have to agree with Gamermom - this thing is going to be the first next-gen console in my house for quite some time - maybe when the PS3 drops down to under $200 I'll think about it - but for now, Wii is for me.
