eFocus: HTS-GS1 5.1 Surround Sound System

For this little gamer, whose speakers consists of only those two that are with my TV, I marvel at the idea of surround sound. I want a media room with a kicking sound system that really rattles your teeth fillings. For Xbox 360 owners Pioneer has gone and created just the thing for you…your own surround sound system.

When you sit down to give the system a go, you get blown away from the beginning. What game could they be using to boast dramatic music and booming sound effects? Why Halo of course…duh! When that Bungie logo came on with that blaring orchestra coming from all those speakers, it was like your butt was wanting to walk on its own, the vibration moved you so much. And then when the action got going and people were deathmatching each other, well, I don’t think there was ever a better sounding rocket launcher death just waiting to happen.

The speaker system is magnetically shielded on the fronts, center, and surrounds. The front and surround speakers have a 3-1/16-inch Full Range Cone. The center speaker is a 3-1/16 inch Full Range Cone. The subwoofer/receiver is 6-5/16 inch (16cm Cone). Now that is a lot of techno geek jargon not even I understand, but let me basically sum it up… it blew me away!

Connectivity and control are also a highlight as the remote has all the bells and whistles of the current remote that comes with the system. The system has 3 digital inputs (1 Coaxial, 2 Optical) and 1 Audio Input. It also has an FM/AM preset ability with up to 30 stations available.

Not only does the system sound exceptional (especially when cranked up to 11 as the demonstrator who talked it up liked to turn it to) but it looks great. Why? Because it looks like your Xbox 360 to the letter, eggshell white and all. Pioneer has done such a great job at color and style coordinating it.

Oh dear Pioneer people, should you be reading, please send me this surround sound system for my birthday or Christmas or just because it is Thursday. Really, I don’t need a holiday to wait to get this thing. All kidding aside, the surround system was really something and I’m hoping I get to hear that Bungie logo cue up just one more time, hearing it from all angles on this fine HTS-GS1 5.1 surround sound system.
