Blood SpraysTake a third person action adventure game with an equal mixture of high caliber guns plus devastating environmental forces magic spells, set in a post apocalyptic future with a sexy and yet classy witch and you are then only probably touching on what makes up the upcoming Xbox 360 game Bullet Witch. We got to ask Jeremiah Cohn some questions about the game and what we can expect when it is released. Plus, they sent along three exclusive pics of the game that you'll only find right here at Killer Betties.

What is the story of Bullet Witch?

Bullet Witch crosses a post-apocalyptic save-the-world genre with that of a goth, witch-oriented style in a third-person shooter good vs. evil storyline in which fans play the role of the protagonist. It's set in 2013 after a series of events unfold, causing the eventual demise of society as we know it.

Based on trailers, the game seems to be very cinematic. What can players expect in the way of cutscenes and how they unfold?

The cut scenes are definitely a great part of the game and are used to move the story forward. Before and after every boss fight and chapter there are detailed sequences that gradually reveal more about Alicia's character, her past, and the back-story behind the demon attack. There is a cool mix of gothic drama and straightforward action in the game and the cut scenes highlight this well.

In the game, the main character is Alicia. There aren't too many new games coming out with strong female leads. How did you approach creating Alicia and what traits and personality did you want to make sure you instilled in her?

Well, she definitely needed a style and attitude of her own. In the most basic sense, she knows that she is a key figure in turning around a series of events to get society back on track. It was also apparent to us that the knowledge of this would cause a certain amount of stress and responsibility, but she's confident in her abilities, so her personality and design was a delicate balance of her strength and sense of duties.

The character model is also flattering, as Alicia is sexy enough to appeal to the men controlling her, and yet she doesn't appear so sleazy and scantily clad in such a way that women wouldn't want to play as her because they find the character demeaning. From a visual standpoint of the character, how did the look of Alicia come about?

Alicia's character is a mix of Japanese and more Western mythology. She is essentially a gothic witch character from Western occult lore, but her ironic sense of humor and brooding melancholy are more Japanese in origin. From a visual standpoint, the creators tried to weave this mixture of eastern and western inspiration into her costumes and style. The result is both sexy and classy at the same time.

Alicia has a very interesting weapon. What is her weapon called and how does it figure into the gameplay of the game? Instead of being one singular type of firearm, it seems to have several different firing modes (machine gun, shotgun, sniper rifle, etc). How will players go about getting all these different firing modes, switch between them, and do all the modes share the same ammo, or must you find the specific ammo for each firing mode?

The weapon Alicia wields is called a "Gun-Rod" because it is both a gun and a magical staff (or rod) used to channel and cast spells. The game begins with the machine gun but the player has the option to upgrade the gun to add the other variations like the shotgun, cannon and gatling gun. Once upgraded the Gun-Rod can quickly be switched between the different variations during play. There is also a spell which imbues the Gun-Rod with elemental magic that further upgrades the weapon based on the variation - for example the machine gun becomes a fire weapon and the shotgun becomes a wind weapon. The sniper mode is a light elemental upgrade to the cannon. Finally, there is unlimited ammo in the game as Alicia creates the ammo with her magic power - at times the player may need to let her rest to refill the ammo and reload, but there isn't any searching for ammo or anything like that.
